The objective of this paper was to comment on Dr. Asgar's presentation concerning "Casting Metals". An attempt was made to include those technical aspects and alloys not covered by Dr. Asgar, such as grain refinement, crown and bridge alloys, and some of the problems associated with porcelain alloy systems and how these problems forced the evolution of porcelain-fused-to-metal alloys. A re-orientation of research objectives of NIDR and academia toward product development was also suggested.
